Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, October 1, 2008: The Lindenwood Group, a national real estate appraisal and consulting firm, announced its carbon neutral platform today.
“Our company has long been committed to sustainable business practices,” said Managing Director Russ Rivard. “For years we’ve been successful at executing the basics of recycling and waste reduction. Now we’ve set our sights at running the greenest appraisal firm in the industry.”
In addition to reducing the size and quantity of printed documents and recycling of all paper, glass, plastic, and aluminum, The Lindenwood Group’s green platform mandates the following:
· Use of only 100% recycled paper for reports and internal documents;
· Use of recycled ink cartridges;
· Exclusive use of low-wattage CFL lighting in all work spaces;
· Use of wind and renewable energy sources, where available; and
· Use of environmentally friendly kitchen and bath products.
The company's business model supports a work-from-home capability for many associates, reducing the hours spent commuting by over 75%. This required a significant investment in technology, but has ultimately paid off in a massive reduction in carbon emissions.
The company's new training center, which opened in May of 2008, was also designed to be environmentally friendly, from the use of dimmable CFL cans for lighting to a combination of cork and "green"-carpet flooring materials.
Now that the firm has successfully shrunken its carbon footprint, the next step in this green evolution is the full embrace of carbon neutrality. The carbon-tracking program will be managed by Sondra Levy Wells. The firm will purchase appropriate offsets from Carbonfund.org.
